Azusa is the first city west of our Glendora spa — about ten minutes along Foothill Boulevard, which Azusa calls Alosta Avenue. Canyon dogs and San Gabriel River trail dogs are the reason this door exists.
Azusa took its name from Asuksagna, a Tongva village. The city incorporated in 1898, and a later land-company slogan — "everything from A to Z in the U.S.A." — stuck to the name. Azusa Pacific University's campus lines Alosta and Foothill. Highway 39 climbs San Gabriel Canyon from the north end of town toward Crystal Lake, which is why Azusa still calls itself the Canyon City. About 50,000 people live here, between Duarte, Irwindale, Glendora, and Covina.
Azusa dogs split their week between the San Gabriel River Trail, downtown along Azusa Avenue, and the canyon. Mountain Cove sits up Highway 39, and those coats come home with dust, foxtails, and the occasional burr. Rosedale and the neighborhoods south of the 210 are more sidewalk and park. Either way, a double coat does not survive canyon season on a quick rinse.

Glendora. 104 W Foothill Blvd is about eight to ten minutes east on Foothill, or a short hop on the 210. Pasadena is the other option if you are already headed west.
Do you handle dogs that hiked San Gabriel Canyon? +
Yes. We de-shed packed undercoat and check ears, paws, and bellies for foxtails. Same routine we use for Eaton Canyon dogs.
Is there parking at the Glendora spa? +
Street parking along Foothill Boulevard. The drive from Azusa is short enough that most people drop off and run errands on Route 66.
