Arcadia is ten minutes east of us — a straight shot down Colorado Boulevard, past the Westfield Santa Anita mall and into the home of the racetrack and the LA County Arboretum. Fluffy Puppy Grooming has a real soft spot for Arcadia's small breeds.
Arcadia incorporated in 1903, founded by "Lucky" Baldwin, who turned his vast Rancho Santa Anita ranchland into one of California's first planned suburbs. Santa Anita Park — one of the most architecturally beautiful horse racing venues in America — opened on Christmas Day 1934 and hosted Seabiscuit's 1938 victory over War Admiral, the 1984 Olympics equestrian events, and multiple Breeders' Cups. The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden — 127 acres adjacent to the track — was built on Baldwin's original estate; its famous free-roaming peacocks are descendants of Baldwin's imports. Population about 57,000, with one of the largest Asian-American populations of any city in the SGV.
Arcadia has one of the highest concentrations of small dogs in the SGV — Shih Tzus, Maltese, Pekingese, Yorkies, Bichons, Cavaliers. There's a thriving local network of dog parents who refer each other generously and meet at the Arboretum gardens for morning walks. Many Arcadia regulars bring their dogs in every four to six weeks for breed-specific cuts.
Our Full Groom is the most popular Arcadia service, often paired with the Teeth Brushing add-on (small breeds need it most — dental health is one of the biggest predictors of senior small-dog quality of life). We're particularly known among Arcadia families for handling sensitive senior small dogs with patience and orthopedic mats.
