Dog Grooming in Sierra Madre

Sierra Madre incorporated in 1907 and has fiercely protected its small-town character ever since — the city actively limits chain stores in its downtown and keeps the population around 11,000. The famous Wistaria Vine, listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest blossoming plant, was planted from a one-gallon pot in 1894 and now covers an entire neighborhood. The annual Wistaria Festival in March is the city's defining event. Sierra Madre's downtown was used as the filming location for the original 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Sierra Madre's Mount Wilson Trail begins right at the edge of town — at the corner of Mira Monte and Mount Wilson Trail — and climbs seven miles to the summit. The town is full of weekend warriors and their dogs returning caked in foothill clay. Memorial Park (the actual one in Sierra Madre, not Pasadena's) is the social hub for non-hiking days. Foxtails are a serious issue this side of town; we check ears, paws, and underbellies on every Sierra Madre dog.
